St. Paul, Minn., October 1, 2001 – Just Plain Folks (JPF), a grass-roots networking organization for musicians, has nominated Lucky That Way as Traditional Folk CD and Song of the Year in its 2001 Music Awards. The song is the title track on Wayne Hamilton’s CD, released in 2000. The JPF 2001 Music Award ceremonies will take place on Saturday, November 17 at the Space 6507 Club in Hollywood, California. Hamilton will attend the ceremonies. He will also perform at a showcase of nominees on November 16 in Hermosa Beach, Calif.

Hamilton, a Minnesota-based performing songwriter, has been writing songs since the late 1960s. He began performing them in the Twin Cities in 1996. Hamilton has played extensively in the Upper Plains region and has toured to Virginia, Maryland and Wisconsin to perform. He is scheduled to tour to Dallas, Texas later this month and Atlanta, Georgia in November. His Internet URL is www.waynehamilton.com.

Hamilton’s release contains twelve of his original songs, each of which received endorsement recognition from the Minnesota Association of Songwriters. His recording label, Acoustic Vision Productions, produced Homecoming Hootenanny, also released in 2000, on which he appears in a concert with several other performers.

In addition to his recording, songwriting and performing activities, Hamilton is the founder and coordinator for the Twin Cities chapter of JPF. This organization, numbering more than 12,000 members worldwide, provides free networking opportunities for independent musicians. The Twin Cities chapter won the organization’s Founders Award for Best Chapter in 2000; at that time Hamilton was named Best Chapter Coordinator. Each month, Hamilton hosts a two-hour, song-circle networking meeting for local members. In addition, he emcees a monthly showcase of musician members, which is free and open to the public. Details about these events and the local chapter of JPF can be found on the Internet at www.acoustic-vision.net. The URL for the international organization is www.jpfolks.com
