Lovin’ It Click here for a sound sample
Features
Peter Ostroushko on fiddle, Bill Rost on guitar and Jason Kapel on bass.
This ain’t your mama’s world son, this ain’t your daddy’s life
You’re movin’ fast to keep up with the job & kids & wife
The young’uns scream for daddy; your boss is yellin’ too
But you take it in stride, you’re happy inside, ‘cause life’s all right with you
You’re lovin’ it, no doubt in your mind
You’re lovin’ it, don’t even have to try
You got everything you need and you wouldn’t change a thing
You’re lovin’ it; everything is fine
Your wife tells you she loves you; she says so every day
A workin’ mom is busy, but she’s smilin’ all the way
She says the life she chose provides the happiness she needs
She turns out the light and squeezes you tight; it’s where she wants to be
She’s lovin’ it, no doubt in her mind
She’s lovin’ it, don’t even have to try
She’s got everything she needs and she wouldn’t change a thing
She’s lovin’ it; everything is fine
Gettin’ knocked down don’t matter as much
As gettin’ back on your feet
When you got love, getting’ up is easy
You’re livin’ a life that’s hard to beat
Keep lovin’ it, no doubt in your mind
Keep lovin’ it, don’t even have to try
You got everything you need and you wouldn’t change a thing
Keep lovin’ it, ‘cause everything is fine

Sixty One Click here for a sound sample
Features Michael Loonan on guitar, Roy Holdren on drums and Jason Kapel on bass.
I was headed North in my four-wheel drive
Needed some time with a line in the water to make me feel alive
Get some sandy soil underneath my feet
With my trusty rod and my black dog Beau, headed where the air smells sweet
Didn’t spend much time on that concrete slab
Pulled off at Rock Creek, rolled down my window, turned off the radio gab
Moved away from the Interstate hum
Put my four rubber tires on the two-lane highway known as US sixty one
Highway sixty one that’s the only way to go
Travel that way, you’ll learn everything that you need to know
Pines in the rocks, lakes full of fishes and tons of country fun
Don’t care where you’re goin’, you ain’t seen nothin’ till you roll down sixty one
Went through Willow River took a look at Moose Lake
Before I drove through downtown Duluth, I came close to Cloquet
It’s awful pretty when you drive the North Shore
Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse and a whole lot more
Highway sixty one that’s the only way to go
Travel that way, you’ll learn everything that you need to know
Pines in the rocks, lakes full of fishes and tons of country fun
Don’t care where you’re goin’, you ain’t seen nothin’ till you roll down sixty one
Any way you cut it, too bad time off don’t last
You gotta go back - you can can go slow or fast
I choose slow, ‘cause I’d rather walk than run
That’s how we do it on Highway sixty one!
Highway sixty one that’s the only way to go
Travel that way, you’ll learn everything that you need to know
Pines in the rocks, lakes full of fishes and tons of country fun
Don’t care where you’re goin’, you ain’t seen nothin’ till you roll down sixty one
Don’t know what you’re missin’, you ain’t seen nothin’ till you roll down
Till you roll down sixty one

(It's The) Same Old Song (Holland/Dozier/Holland)
Click here for a sound sample
Features Bill Scherer on backup vocals, Joe Juliano on guitar and Jason Kapel on bass.
You’re sweet like a honeybee and like a honeybee stings
You’ve gone and left my heart in pain
And all that’s left is our favorite song the one we used to dance to all night long
It used to bring sweet memories of a tender love that used to be
Now it’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
It’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
I, oh I
Sentimental fool am I to hear our old love song & wanna cry
But the melody keeps haunting me, reminding me how in love we used to be
And I’m hearing the part that used to touch our hearts: together forever
Now it’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
It’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
Precious memories keep lingering on every time I hear our favorite song
But now you’ve gone, left this emptiness; I only reminisce about the happiness
When we used to dance to the music, make romance to this music
It’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
It’s the same old song, but with a different meaning since you been gone
I can’t bear to hear the same old song
W
ith a different meaning since you been gone
It’s the same old song, with a different meaning since you been gone |

Nothin' To Do With Me Click here for a sound sample
Features Joe Juliano on guitar, Roy Holdren on drums and Jason Kapel on bass.
You say you just want to be friends, old lover
But I don't think you know what yer doin'
'Cause when you say that to me, it cuts straight to my heart
And it puts my whole world into ruin, because
I gave you everything that you asked for baby & I'm glad that I had eyes to see
That the reason you're feelin' the way that you are has got nothin' to do with me
It's got nothin' to do with me; just as sure as I am alive
Don't diminish your guilt & say that you are my friend
'Cause I ain't buyin' into that jive
I know it makes you feel better tellin' me that we're friends
But I ain't buyin' into that jive
You tell me we’re in different places; I can surely agree with that line
'Cause I know I ain't gettin' the same as I give & that don't make me feel too fine
On your top ten list of important items I am number twenty-three
You don't want to commit, you just hauled off & quit
It's got nothin' to do with me
I know you made your decision three months ago,
'Cause that's the last time that we made love
But you didn't say nothin' just strung me along,
Believing friendship was enough
Well, friendship is great, but there's got to be more for a relationship you see
Got to trust, got to care, got to talk, got to share; that means everything to me
It's got nothin' to do with me; just as sure as I am alive
Don't diminish your guilt & say that you are my friend
'Cause I ain't buyin' into that jive
I know it makes you feel better tellin' me that we're friends
But I ain't, ain’t buyin' into that jive

Gettysburg Click here for a sound sample
Features Matthew Fox on guitar, Josh Misner on fiddle, Michael Loonan on cello and Matthew Richards on snare drum
The sun came up as I picked my way across the battlefield
After three long days of death the fighting stopped the day before
I heard a man cry out in pain beneath a bush of thorns
I found a soldier dressed in gray and knew that man would fight no more
I offered my canteen; the man looked up at me
We recognized each other through the years and dirt and pain
Michael said, “I’m glad you found me, but it won’t be long
I’m bleedin’ bad, my boyhood friend; by sunset I’ll be gone.”
You and I grew up together here in Gettysburg
We didn’t know the world would go to hell and break us all apart
This war pulled us back together here to Gettysburg
I guess it’s right that it should end for me here, where I got my start
Michael told me he came back to find his love
He’d planned to look for Jenny and ask her for her hand
But he’d been hit by grapeshot as he made his way toward town
He never got the chance to ask her; Union cannon shot him down
I stayed with Michael ‘til his life had slipped away
Then I went to find his Jenny, a blue-eyed girl who lived in town
I thought of how she cried when Michael chose the Southern side
And I wished she could have heard his voice before young Michael died
You and I grew up together here in Gettysburg
We didn’t know the world would go to hell and break us all apart
This war pulled us back together here to Gettysburg
I guess it’s right that it should end for me here, where I got my start
I tapped softly on the door of Jenny’s house
Her tearful mother greeted me and opened up the door
When I asked the reason for her tears, “Oh God!,” she cried
“A soldier’s bullet hit our girl, and now young Jenny’s died.”
War had pushed the three of us down separate roads
We’d all grown up together in this Pennsylvania town
More than fifty thousand soldiers lost in just three days
But only one civilian, Jenny Wade, had lost her life that way
We three friends are all together here in Gettysburg
We didn’t know the world would go to hell and break us all apart
This war pulled us back together here to Gettysburg
War can change the best of us and break the strongest heart
Yes, war can change the best of us and break the strongest heart

Love At The Five And Dime (Nanci Griffith)
Click here for a sound sample
Features Matthew Fox on dobro, Vicky Emerson with vocal harmony and Jason Kapel on bass.
Rita was sixteen years... hazel eyes and chestnut hair
She made the Woolworth counter shine
Eddie was a sweet romancer, and a darn good dancer
They'd waltz the aisles of the five and dime
They'd sing dance a little closer to me
Dance a little closer now
Dance a little closer tonight
Dance a little closer to me, it's closing time
And love's on sale tonight at this five and dime
Eddie played the steel guitar
And his mama cried 'cuz he played in the bars
And kept young Rita out late at night
So, they married up in Abilene, lost a child in Tennessee
Still, that love survived
They'd sing dance a little closer to me
Dance a little closer now
Dance a little closer tonight
Dance a little closer to me, it's closing time
And love's on sale tonight at this five and dime
One of the boys in Eddie's band took a shine to Rita's hands
So Eddie ran off with the bass man's wife
Oh' but he was back by June, singin' a different tune
And sportin' Miss Rita back by his side
They'd sing, dance a little closer to me
Dance a little closer now
Dance a little closer tonight
Dance a little closer to me, it's closing time
And love's on sale tonight at this five and dime
Eddie traveled with the barroom bands 'til arthritis took his hands
Now he sells insurance on the side
Rita's got a house to keep
She likes dime store novels and a love so sweet
They dance to the radio late at night
Rita was sixteen years, hazel eyes and chestnut hair
She made the Woolworth counter shine
Eddie was a sweet romancer, and a darn good dancer
They'd waltz the aisles of the five and dime
They'd waltz the aisles of the five and dime
They'd waltz the aisles of the five and dime

I Know Click here for a sound sample
Features Clint Hoover on harmonica, Dave Hanzel on congas and Jason Kapel on bass.
You are the one I can rely on
When you are close, the world is clear
When we’re apart, got a hole in my heart
You are the one I want to be near
I know, I know, I know you’ll never leave me
And if you ever go it won’t deceive me
For we were meant for each other and if you go I know
If you go I know; if you go I know that you’ll return
There’s no one else, no other lover
No one could love me like you do
When I think of love, and I think of love
When I think of love I think of you
There's never been a love like ours and I know
A place in your heart is all I need
I don't wanna miss a single hug or a kiss
That's how I know you'll stay with me
I know, I know, I know you’ll never leave me
And if you ever go it won’t deceive me
For we were meant for each other and if you go I know
If you go I know; if you go I know that you’ll return
If you go I know
If you go I know, I know
If you go I know that you’ll return

Stuff Click here for a sound sample
Features Joe Juliano on guitar and Jason Kapel on bass.
My wife woke me up last weekend for a honeydew Saturday
She said, We got to find some storage space so we can put some things away
We opened up the closets and searched in the garage
But we couldn’t see a single cubic foot of anything but GAR-BAGE!
How much stuff do we really need? I wish we were storin’ mustard seed
Or fleas or peas or anything small; do we really need this stuff at all?
We got broiler pans and fans on stands and stuff we ain’t seen in years
We found old cell phones and irons and vacation souvenirs
Two Christmas trees and braces for knees and junk you would not believe
We were standin’ in E-Bay heaven, but it all looked worthless to me!
How much stuff do we really need? I wish we were storin’ tiny keys
Or bees or cheese or anything small; do we really need this stuff at all?
I opened up some real old boxes with absolutely nothin’ inside
I turned to my bride, I was mystified, she saw the question in my eyes
She explained, If you have to return it, you gotta have the box it came in Though we had long since thrown out the contents,
I just turned to my honey and grinned
I asked her
How much stuff do we really need? I wish we were storin’ mustard seed
Or fleas or peas or anything small; do we really need this stuff at all?
How much stuff do we really need? I wish we were storin’ tiny keys

Second In Line Click here for a sound sample
Features Peter Ostroushko on fiddle, Roy Holdren on drums and Jason Kapel on bass.
I been chasin’ you around for nearly a year, but you got no int’rest in me
Got the wrong kinda truck or the wrong kinda jeans or I work too hard for free
But that clown you’re seein’s gonna let you down & honey, I’ll be standin’ there
You can’t push me away forever – and I ain’t goin’ anywhere
I’m second in line for a first-rate love
Second in line and I won’t give up
Second in line that’s the last place I wanna be
Gonna show you, honey I’m the kinda man who won’t walk away from you
I wanna be number one so we both have some fun
I’m tired of bein’ number two
Now I might be playin’ way outta my class, but honey that don’t bother me none
I’ve learned to exercise some patience, while you were out there havin’ fun
Sooner or later you will see things my way and you will change your mind
Any day now you will realize that you have wasted all that time
I’m second in line for a first-rate love
Second in line and I won’t give up
Second in line that’s the last place I wanna be
Gonna show you, honey I’m the kinda man who won’t walk away from you
I wanna be number one so we both have some fun
I’m tired of bein’ number two
When you picked that other guy, I had to change my plan
But I believe we'll both be happy when you understand
Understand
That I’m second in line for a first-rate love
Second in line and I won’t give up
Second in line that’s the last place I wanna be
Gonna show you, honey I’m the kinda man who won’t walk away from you
I wanna be number one so we both have some fun

Mama's Music Click here for a sound sample
Features Walter Chancellor on tenor sax, Mavid Methner on backup saxes, Roy Holdren on drums, Jason Kapel on bass and handclaps/backup vocals by the Hamiltones.
When I was just a kid back in high school
We had a damned fine rock & roll band
We covered all the tunes by our favorite groups
W
e played at dances & one-nite stands
We always practiced over at my house, 'cause the guys would all agree
My Mama loved our music so much it was the only place to be
She'd be prancin' around the kitchen, or haulin' cookies down the stairs
She'd bring us lemonade when we needed it most
'Cause we were playin' hard down there
And we always knew when we hit the groove with a song we were workin' on
'Cause Mama would open up the windows to watch folks dancin' on our lawn
Mama listened to music all day long, we heard it morning, noon & nite
She'd drag my Pappy out to dances she made sure that he got the steps right
Sometimes she'd ask our band if we knew a tune she'd heard the nite before
We knew right then we'd better learn that song, we didn't wait one minute more
Yes, Mama, she knew her music, although she didn't sing or play; but
She was the one who made sure her kids heard some music every day
So it wasn't difficult for me to decide what I would do
I just took what my Mama started, and now I'm playin' here for you
She'd be prancin' around the kitchen, or haulin' cookies down the stairs
She'd bring us lemonade when we needed it most
'Cause we were playin' hard down there
And we always knew when we hit the groove with a song we were workin' on
'Cause Mama would open up the windows to watch folks dancin' on our lawn
We always knew when we hit the groove with a song we were workin' on
'Cause Mama'd open up the windows to watch folks dancin' on our lawn
She liked that music so darned much she even danced out on the lawn

Whatshername (Stookey/Dixon/Kniss)
Click here for a sound sample
Features Dave Barry on guitar and Jason Kapel on bass.
Jimmy McGregor, hey, Jimmy, come here!
Jimmy you son of a gun!
What 'cha been doin'? How long has it been?
Hell, seven years if it's been one.
How's the preacher? How's Don, did he go back to school?
(No kidding, he said he was gay!)
Who me? Oh, I'm great! I'm a father you know
Yeah, two of 'em and one on the way.
Oh, well, she couldn't make it, she gets pretty tired
She started her last month today
I only came up for a couple of minutes
Believe me, I wish I could stay
Oh, and yeah while I think of it, do you remember
Not for myself, for a friend
A girl that I brought here, before I got married
A couple of times at the end?
Whatshername? She hardly knew me
Now her name means something to me
I wonder if she ever got over me?
Anyway I should be flattered For yesterday at least I mattered
Where did it go?
Jimmy I tell you we're two lucky guys
You've got everything that you planned
And all things considered I've done fairly well
I mean God's honest truth, man
I love Ruth and
Whatshername
I thought I knew her
Whatshername
What happened to her?
I don't know why
I'll never forget Whatshername

The Present Click here for a sound sample
Features Charlie Calvert on guitar and Jason Kapel on bass.
When they fight he thinks about the past
She sees the future and she worries it’s not gonna last
Their minds have been apart for way too long
Their hearts are weaker now in ways where they used to be strong
Some way, they had to work it out
One day, he came up with a way how when he told her
The past is hist’ry, the future is a myst’ry, today is a gift
That’s why they call it the present
They turned a corner on the way they live
They understood they had to share what they take and they give
No more wishin’ for what’s gone away
No more worry ‘bout tomorrow or some future day
You’ve got the minute that you’re in
Be there, ‘cause it will not come again and you know
The past is hist’ry, the future is a myst’ry, today is a gift
That’s why they call it the present
It’s good to remember; it’s OK to plan
When you live and love for the moment, you’ll stay close to the way you began
The past is hist’ry, the future is a myst’ry, today is a gift
That’s why they call it the present
That’s why they call it the present
So let’s open our present
And love in the present
