About the fuel capacity and when low lamp level lit
Since the 309 was originally built on the same chassis as the 205... I am pretty sure it had the same fuel tank, which was 50 liters from 1987 - 1998. It was 40 liters on models made from 1983 - 1986.
The low fuel warniing light, on the very similar dashboard to the 205, comes on when you have 10 litres left, which is TWO GALLONS , Imperial British gallons, or closer to 3 US gallons.
I have owned and driven the 205's since 1991, and have owned 5 or 6 differrent ones.
I don't know if there were any big changes when the 309 was produced in India by the company PAL-PEUGEOT.
